April 28-29, 2012 @ Stratford Badminton Club (Stratford Agriplex)

Eligibility: Entries accepted from any interested WOBA junior players, Badminton Ontario Player’s cards are not required, however non-affiliated club members will be required to pay an additional $5.00 on top of their entry fees.

Excellent experience before OFSSA!

Entry Fee: $20 one event, $25 two events, $30 three events; payable by cash or cheque at the tournament. (Cheques payable to “Brantford Jr. Badminton Club”, please indicate player’s name on cheque.)

Events: boys and girls singles, doubles and mixed doubles play.

U12 born in 2000 or later U16 born in 1996/1997

U14 born in 1998/1999 U19 born in 1993/1994/1995

A, B, C format – numbers permitting

Eyewear: All junior players in Ontario must wear protective eyewear, meeting the ASTM F803 standard, whenever there are more than two players on the same court.

Dress code: Athletic clothing and non-marking indoor court shoes.

Shuttles: Nylon shuttles will be provided.

Registration: 8:30-9:00am Saturday & Sunday

Doubles and Mixed Doubles play will begin on Saturday April 28, 2012 at 9:00am

Singles play will begin on Sunday April 29, 2012 at 9:00am

NCCP LEVEL 1 TECHNICAL COACHING CLINIC

WHEN:	DECEMBER 17-18, 2011

TIMES:	Clinic: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
	Registration on Saturday….8:45 a.m. sharp.

Registration Fee: $165.00 includes:
	The Latest “Badminton Essentials” Manual, BO folder plus on court instruction

Course:	Includes the following
	1) class organization including lesson plans and teaching methodologies.
	2) Fundamentals of grip and basic court movement
	3) Basic drill development and feeding techniques.
	4) Basic forecourt strokes; i.e.			backhand and forehand net shots, backhand short
	serves and returns, drives, backhand and forehand underhand clears, plus singles
	long serve.
	5) Basic backcourt strokes; i.e.			forehand and overhead clear and drop, forehand over-
	head smash, basic stance/contact point re around-the head clear, Singles serve returns
	6) Basic strategy and tactics (Singles and Doubles) .

Note: Each Coach/Teacher may bring 3 students (who MUST be beginners) for two days of
coaching. Cost is $20.00 per day per student. This is an awesome opportunity for these students
at a minimal cost. We mentor you while coaching your students. Students do not have to be Juniors.

Clothing:	come ready to play in proper shorts, t-shirts and court shoes.

Eligibility:
This is a BOn Sanctioned Event which means you must have a 2011 or 2012 BOn Performance A or Competition B Card to enter. Out of province participants will be required to purchase a card from our website. Cards will not be available for sale at the tournament.

Fees:
$30 covers 1st event
$10 2nd event, subsequent events included.
You may register in 2 age groups a maximum of 5 events

Shuttles:
Feather, Pay-As-You-Play. Shuttles will be available for sale at the draw desk for $2 each.

Deadline to register:
November 26, 2011 at midnight.

Anyone withdrawing after the deadline closes will receive a refund less a $10 administration fee. Anyone withdrawing after the draws are posted will not receive a refund.

Welcome to the 2011-2012 Season

Welcome to the 2011-12 season of the Stratford Badminton Club. I hope that everyone has had a great summer and are ready for badminton to begin.

Last season was the busiest, most successful season that the club has experienced in many years. We ended the year with 325 members. The Club hosted six high school tournaments including both the Jr. and Sr. Huron Perth and WOSSA tournaments. Of course, the most demanding experience for our club was the running of the 2011 Canadian Masters Championships. After months of preparation, 215 athletes from around the world enjoyed a memorable and exciting week in April. This tournament was a great success both organizationally and financially. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped throughout this past season.

The season will begin on Sunday October 16 and end Sunday April 29. Our free play Open House will last from Sunday October 16 to Sunday October 23. Please feel free to bring all your friends out to try some badminton. Once again all of our fees will be staying the same as last season. The programs also remain unchanged.

After the Open House week are programs will begin with the U14 junior lessons on Sunday Oct 23rd

We would like to encourage our adult members and juniors in grade 10 and up to play in the Thursday Night Doubles. The Thursday Night Doubles program is intended as an hour of organized competitive doubles for members of all abilities. Many players make up their own matches before and after the organized games. If you are not interested in the competitive Doubles Thursday nights are still a great night to bring out your friends as we can set up 15 courts for the entire evening.

*A reminder that there are always courts available for Open Play, while the all programs are running*
